As a longtime Abkhazian language teacher, I believe it is important to understand the historical and cultural context of the language we are learning. One of the most significant events that have shaped Abkhazia's history and culture is the Abkhazian War and Conflict.
The war was fought between Georgia and Abkhazia in the early 1990s and resulted in the de facto independence of Abkhazia. This conflict is still a sensitive issue for many individuals on both sides and it remains a topic of political and historical debate.
