Present Tense
The present tense of the verb "have" is ඔබට (obata). It is used to express possession or ownership of something.
- Person 1: ඔබට කොටසක් තියෙනවාද? (Obata kotasak thiyenawada?)
(Do you have a cat?)
- Person 2: ඔහුට කොටසක් තියෙනවා. (Oputa kotasak thiyenawa.)
(I have a cat.)
Past Tense
The past tense of the verb "have" is ඔබට ඇති (obata ethi). It is used to express possession or ownership of something in the past.
- Person 1: ඔබට පසුගිය මිනිත්තුවක් ඇති බැවින් කියන්නේ කුමන්ද? (Obata pasugi minittuwak ethi bawin kiyannu kumanndu?)
(Did you have a dog before?)
- Person 2: ඔහුට පසුගිය මිනිත්තුවක් ඇති බැවින් කියානු නැත. (Oputa pasugi minittuwak ethi bawin kiyannu nath.)
(I did not have a dog before.)
Future Tense
The future tense of the verb "have" is ඔබට ඇති (obata ethi). It is used to express possession or ownership of something in the future.
- Person 1: ඔබට ඊට කොටසක් තියෙන්නේ කුමන්ද? (Obata ita kotasak thiyennu kumanndu?)
(Will you have a cat later?)
- Person 2: ඔහුට ඊට කොටසක් තියෙන්නේ. (Oputa ita kotasak thiyennu.)
(I will have a cat later.)
