Belarusian Grammar - Give your Opinion

Hi Belarusian learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn how to give your opinion in Belarusian. We will look at the grammar rules and some examples. Let's get started!

Rules

Giving your opinion in Belarusian is quite simple. To express your opinion, you can use the following phrases:

  • Я думаю (ya dumayu) - I think
  • Я верыць (ya veryts) - I believe
  • Я маю на ўвазе (ya mau na uvaze) - I have in mind
  • Я падумаў (ya padumaŭ) - I thought

You can also use the verb меркаваць (merkavats) which means "to think". For example:

  • Я меркаю, што... (ya merkau, shto...) - I think that...

To make a negative opinion, you can use the following phrases:

  • Я не думаю (ya ne dumayu) - I don't think
  • Я не верыць (ya ne veryts) - I don't believe
  • Я не маю на ўвазе (ya ne mau na uvaze) - I don't have in mind
  • Я не падумаў (ya ne padumaŭ) - I didn't think

You can also use the verb не меркаваць (ne merkavats) which means "not to think". For example:

  • Я не меркаю, што... (ya ne merkau, shto...) - I don't think that...
