The verb "be" is used to describe a state or condition. It is used to describe a person's identity, location, or possession. In Northern Uzbek, the verb "be" is conjugated differently depending on the subject of the sentence.
The conjugation of the verb "be" in Northern Uzbek is as follows:

- Person 1: Олар доиралар (Olar doirallar) (They are teachers)
- Person 2: Бу ишлаб чиқаришда (Bu ishlab chiqarishda) (He/she is working)
In addition to describing a person's identity, location, or possession, the verb "be" can also be used to describe an action that is happening in the present. For example:
- Person 1: Ман учун кутилмоқда (Man uchun kutilmoqda) (I am studying)
- Person 2: Син кутилмоқда (Sin kutilmoqda) (You are studying)
- Person 1: Олар кутилмоқда (Olar kutilmoqda) (They are studying)
- Person 2: Бу кутилмоқда (Bu kutilmoqda) (He/she is studying)
The verb "be" can also be used to describe an action that is happening in the past. For example:
- Person 1: Ман кечиктирмоқдаман (Man kechiktirmoqdaman) (I was studying)
- Person 2: Син кечиктирмоқдаман (Sin kechiktirmoqdaman) (You were studying)
- Person 1: Олар кечиктирмоқдаман (Olar kechiktirmoqdaman) (They were studying)
- Person 2: Бу кечиктирмоқдаман (Bu kechiktirmoqdaman) (He/she was studying)
