Romanian Grammar - Gender

Hi Romanian learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the gender of nouns in Romanian. We will look at the rules for determining the gender of nouns and practice with some examples. Let's get started!

Rules

In Romanian, nouns are either masculine or feminine. There are some general rules that can help you determine the gender of a noun.

  • Nouns ending in -a are usually feminine.
  • Nouns ending in -ul, -el, -al, -il, -ar, -er, -ir are usually masculine.
  • Nouns ending in -e, -i, -u, -o, -ă can be either masculine or feminine.
