Belarusian Grammar - Future Tense

Hi Belarusian learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Belarusian. We will look at how to form the future tense, as well as some examples of its use. Let's get started!

Forming the Future Tense

The future tense in Belarusian is formed using the verb stem + the ending -e. For example, the verb stem for the verb "to go" is ідзе (idze). To form the future tense, we add the ending -e, so the future tense of "to go" is ідзець (idzets).

The future tense can also be formed using the verb stem + the ending -u. For example, the verb stem for the verb "to write" is пісаць (pisats). To form the future tense, we add the ending -u, so the future tense of "to write" is пісаць (pisatsu).

Examples

Belarusian Pronunciation English Translation
я ідзу ya idzu I will go
ты пішыць ty pishytz You will go
я пішу ya pishu I will write
ты пішыць ty pishytz You will write
