Some verbs have Present Tense stems that are formed irregulry. Those must be remembered.

  • хотіти (to want) – “хоч-”
  • йти (to go) – “йд-”
  • рости (to grow) – “рост-”
  • жити (to live) – “жив-”
  • красти (to steal) – “крад-”
  • могти (to be able) – “мож-”
  • плисти (to swim) – “плив-”

Here is a table of personal Present tense endings of verbs of the first conjugation group, irregular verbs:


to go йти – “йд-”
I go Я йд-у
You go Ти йд-еш
He goes Він йд-е
She goes Вона йд-е
It goes Воно йд-е
We go Ми йд-емо
You (plural) go Ви йд-ете
They go Вони йд-уть
