Rundi Grammar - Plurals

Hi Rundi learners!😊
Learning Rundi Grammar can be a challenging task, but it is also an incredibly rewarding one. In this lesson, we will focus on the formation of plurals in Rundi.

Nouns

In Rundi, nouns are usually made plural by adding the suffix -a to the end of the word. For example, the singular form of the word "umugabo" (man) is "abagabo" (men).

However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, the plural form of the word "umugore" (woman) is "amagore" (women).

Adjectives

Adjectives are also made plural by adding the suffix -a to the end of the word. For example, the singular form of the word "kandi" (good) is "bakandi" (goods).

Verbs

Verbs are made plural by adding the suffix -eza to the end of the word. For example, the singular form of the word "gukora" (to do) is "gukoreza" (to do).

Pronouns

Pronouns are made plural by adding the suffix -zi to the end of the word. For example, the singular form of the word "nta" (I) is "ntazi" (we).
