Hi Faroese learners! 😊

We will look at the different types of questions, as well as the grammar rules that apply when asking questions. By the end of this lesson, you should have a good understanding of how to ask questions in Faroese.

Types of Questions

In Faroese, there are two main types of questions: yes/no questions and wh-questions.

Yes/No Questions

Yes/no questions are questions that can be answered with either a yes or a no. In Faroese, these questions are formed by adding the particle "er" to the end of the sentence. For example:

  • Er hann bor í Føroyum? (Does he live in the Faroe Islands?)

Wh-Questions

Wh-questions are questions that require more information than just a yes or no answer. In Faroese, these questions are formed by adding the wh-word to the beginning of the sentence. For example:

  • Hvat hevur hann gjørt? (What has he done?)
