In today's lesson, we will be discussing the use of pronouns in Wolof. Pronouns are an important part of any language, and understanding how to use them correctly is essential for speaking Wolof fluently. Types of Pronouns

In Wolof, there are three main types of pronouns: personal, possessive, and demonstrative.

Personal Pronouns

  • Near: wii (this), wuut (these)
  • Far: wuñ (that), wuñuñ (those)
  • One: wuñu (that one), wuñuñu (those ones)

Usage

Pronouns are used in many different ways in Wolof. Here are some examples of how they can be used:

  • To replace a noun: Nga xamal (I love).
  • To ask a question: Dina xam? (Do you love?).
  • To make a statement: Yeneen xam (They love).
  • To show possession: Ngam borom (My house).
  • To point out something: Wuñuñu borom (Those houses).
