Abkhazian Grammar - Nouns

In today's lesson, we will be discussing the basics of Abkhazian nouns. We will cover topics such as noun gender, noun declension, and noun agreement. By the end of this lesson, you should have a good understanding of how to use nouns in Abkhazian.

Noun Gender

Nouns in Abkhazian are either masculine, feminine, or neuter. Masculine nouns typically end in -a, -i, or -u, while feminine nouns typically end in -e or -o. Neuter nouns typically end in -a or -u.

Noun Declension

Nouns in Abkhazian are declined according to their gender and number. Masculine nouns are declined in the singular and plural forms, while feminine and neuter nouns are declined in the singular, dual, and plural forms.

  • Masculine Singular:

= Noun Agreement

Nouns in Abkhazian must agree with the verb in terms of gender and number. For example, if the verb is in the masculine singular form, then the noun must also be in the masculine singular form.

  • Masculine Plural:

* Verb: ашар (to do) * Noun: абар (fathers)
