Rules

Swahili uses syllable slots to show tenses, as below

ni is for present tense e.g. ninakula = I am eating

ta is for future tense e.g. nitakula = I will eat.

me for present perfect e.g. nimekula = I have eaten

li for past tense. e.g. nilikula = I ate (past tense)
