  • Major holidays in Bulgaria are New Year (January 1), Liberation Day (March 3), Easter, The Cyrillic Alphabet Day (May 24), Reunification Day (September 6), Independence Day (September 22), and Christmas (December 24 and 25).


  • On March 1 (Баба Марта) Bulgarians give one another мартеници, red and white tasseled threads which are worn for health and happiness at the coming of spring.
