Here is a list of nations having English as an official language. India is the most populous country in the world where English is classified as an official language.

In the United States, English is not an official language at the federal level there. This is something that surprises many people - including people from the US. However, English is an official language at a state level in many US states, including California, Alaska and Tennessee.
