Here is a list of nations having English as an official language. India is the most populous country in the world where English is classified as an official language.
A notable omission is the United States. English is not an official language at the federal level there. This is something that surprises many people - including people from the US. However, English is an official language at a state level in many US states, including California, Alaska and Tennessee.
