Infinitives in Georgian
In Georgian infinitives are used as nouns, although they are produced from verbs – unlike English. They can also receive case markers. Most infinitives are produced by the suffix “-ა”. წერ-ა (“to write”), ხატვ-ა (“to paint”), მუშაობ-ა (“to work”), ფრენ-ა (“to fly”), etc.
Some infinitives have “-ომ-”, “-ოლ-”, “-ილ-”, “-ულ-” endings. A few infinitives are produced by “სი---ილ-” and “სი---ულ-”.
