Passing Items at the Table in Amharic

When you pass an item you say:


“ይኸው yïhäw” to mean “here you are”

and

ማቀበል mak΄äbäl to mean “to pass”.


Imperative forms of mak΄äbäl አቀብለኝ ak΄äbïläñ ♂ pass to me


አቀብይኝ ak΄äbïyiñ ♀


አቀብሉኝ ak΄äbïluñ (plural)


ያቀብሉኝ yak΄äbïluñ (polite/akïbïrot)


A less formal way to say “here you are” is also:


እንካ ïnka ♂


እንቺ/እንኪ ïnči / ïnki ♀


እንኩ/እንካቹ ïnk/ïnkačhu (plural)
