GAGE, GAGER
The word "gage" or the verb "gager" has several meanings in French. This lesson tells you everything about it!
Gage, mettre en gage
Objet de valeur remis pour garantir le paiement d'une dette = Valuable object given to guarantee the payment of a debt
- Ex: Mettre sa montre en gage = pawn your watch
In France, the Paris municipal credits, populary called "Ma Tante", lends money against the remittence of a Valuable object.
