Asking for Directions

When you are lost or need help finding a place, it's important to be able to ask for directions. Here are some common phrases you can use in Central Kurdish:

  • لە کوێ ئەتەوێ بوون؟ (Le kû êtewey bûn?) - Where are you coming from?
  • لە کوێ دەرەوە؟ (Le kû derewa?) - Where are you going?
  • چەند لەوو بەرەوەیی رێیەکت نییە؟ (Chand lawe bêrewaîyî reyeket nîye?) - Do you know the way to (place)?
  • ئەو بەرەوەی دەستبەخە؟ (Ew berewey destbexê?) - Is (place) nearby?

Giving Directions

When someone asks you for directions, you can use the following phrases to help them out:

  • بەمڕۆژئاوەی نزمانەوە (Be merrojaawey nazmane) - Turn left
  • بەمڕۆژئاوەی ڕاست (Be merrojaawey rast) - Turn right
  • بەدەم، ژێرەوە کەوە، بەلى بچەروە (Bedem, Jêrewêkewê, Bely Bcêrowe)- Go straight, Turn left, Turn right (In order)
  • هیوادارە (Hewadarê) - Be careful
  • ئەو بەرەوەی لە چ ناوچەیە؟ (Ew berewey li çî navçeyê?) - Which street is (place) on?

Asking About Location

If you are trying to get a sense of where you are or where something is located, you can use the following phrases in Central Kurdish:

  • ئەم بەرەوەیە کەلێر ئەستێرە؟ (Em bereweya kelêr astro?) - Is this place to the left or right?
  • لە کوێ بەرەوەندەبوون؟ (Le kû bereweyandêbûn?) - Where is the location?
  • ئەو بەرەوەی کە بۆمان زرینۆزیکرابووە؟ (Ew bereweyke kê bo Man Zarînûzykirabûwe?) - Where is the place that was mentioned for us?
