Using the personal pronouns is not obligatorily in Georgian. The III person subject (sing. and pl.) is in the dative case:

მას უყვარს (ის)  მათ მოსწონთ (ის) 
კაცს უყვარს (ის)  კაცებს მოსწონთ (ის)
