How do you say hello and goodbye in Tigrinya?

Here is a collection of useful phrases in Tigrinya (ትግርኛ), also spelled Tigrigna, an Ethiopic language spoken in Eritrea and in northern Ethiopia.

Which hotel are you staying at? ኣበየናይ ሆተል ኢኹም ትቕመጡ? abeyenayi hoteli īẖumi tiḵ’imet’u?


Since when are you here ? ኣብዚ ክንደይ ጌርኩም? abizī kinideyi gērikumi?


How long are you staying? ንኽንደይ ክትጸንሑ ኢኹም? niẖinideyi kitits’eniḥu īẖumi?


Are you enjoying yourself here? ደስ ኢሉኩም ዶ ኣብዚ? desi īlukumi do abizī?


Are you on vacation here? ኣብዚዲኹም ዕርፍቲ ትገብሩ? abizīdīẖumi ‘irifitī tigebiru?


Please come see me! ንዓይ ብጽሑኒ እንዶ! ni‘ayi bits’iḥunī inido!
