Twi, also known as Akan Kasa, is a dialect of the Akan language spoken in southern and central Ghana.

Alphabet

English and Akan both use the Latin script.

In total, the Akan alphabet is made up of 22 letters. Of these, 20 are found in the 26-letter English alphabet.

  • The 2 letters Ɛɛ and Ɔɔ are the only ones you will find in Akan but not in English.
  • Besides, the Akan alphabet does not have the letters j, q, v, x, and z that you find in the English alphabet.
