Latin script[edit | edit source]

English and Akan both use the Latin script.

In total, the Akan alphabet is made up of 22 letters. Of these, 20 are found in the 26-letter English alphabet.

  • The 2 letters Ɛɛ and Ɔɔ are the only ones you will find in Akan but not in English.
  • Besides, the Akan alphabet does not have the letters j, q, v, x, and z that you find in the English alphabet.
