Adverbs of time describe the duration of events and actions. Here are some common adverbs of time in Abkhazian:

Abkhazian Pronunciation English Translation
мшраа mshraa always
гыцәа gytsa never
аҳәын ahəin now
абоуп aboup recently
аҧара apara later
лҵысқьа lts'ysq'a already
аҟны aqny again

Notice that the adverbs of time come before the verb in the sentence. For example:

  • Аҧара шәаҧ иҟоит. (Apara shwaap ik'o-it.) - I will come later.
  • Лҵысқьа аҳырхәа иқәҭқәа. (Lts'ysq'a ahwykxwa ik'atk'wa-a.) - They have already finished eating.
