Korean Grammar - How to Use "Have"

Conjugation

The verb "have" in Korean is ๊ฐ–๋‹ค (gatda). It is an irregular verb, so it does not follow the normal conjugation rules. Here are the different forms of the verb:

Usage

  • Person 2: ๋‚˜๋Š” ์นœ๊ตฌ๊ฐ€ ์—†์–ด์š”. (naneun chinguga eopseoyo.)
 * Translation: I don't have any friends.
  • Person 1: ์ €๋Š” ์ง‘์ด ์žˆ์–ด์š”. (jeoneun jibi itseoyo.)
 * Translation: I have a house.
  • Person 2: ๋‚˜๋Š” ์ฐจ๊ฐ€ ์—†์–ด์š”. (naneun chaga eopseoyo.)
 * Translation: I don't have a car.

Practice

Now it's time to practice using the verb "have" in Korean. Try to make your own sentences using the different forms of the verb. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • I have a dog.
  • I had a cat.
  • I will have a fish.
  • I don't have a bike.
  • I didn't have a phone.
