Norwegian Bokmål Grammar - How to Use "Have"

In this lesson, we will learn how to use the verb "have" in Norwegian Bokmål. We will look at the conjugation of the verb, as well as some examples of how it is used in sentences.

Conjugation

The verb "have" is conjugated differently depending on the subject pronoun. The table below shows the conjugation of the verb "have" for each subject pronoun:

du /du/ har have
han/hun/den/det /hɑn/ /hʉn/ /dɛn/ /dɛt/ har have

Examples

Now let's look at some examples of how the verb "have" is used in sentences.

  • Person 1: Har du en bok? (Do you have a book?)
  • Person 2: Ja, jeg har en bok. (Yes, I have a book.)
  • Person 1: Har du et hus? (Do you have a house?)
  • Person 2: Nei, jeg har ikke et hus. (No, I don't have a house.)
