Hi Tigrinya learners! π
In today's lesson, we will be discussing adjectives in the Tigrinya language. Adjectives are words that describe or modify nouns and pronouns. They can be used to give more information about a person, place, thing, or idea.
Formation of Adjectives
Adjectives in Tigrinya are formed by adding suffixes to nouns and verbs. The suffixes used depend on the gender and number of the noun being modified.
Masculine Singular
For masculine singular nouns, the suffix -α£α΅ is added to the end of the noun. For example, the word for "good" is α£α (alu). To make it an adjective, the suffix -α£α΅ is added, making it α£αα£α΅ (aluat).
Feminine Singular
For feminine singular nouns, the suffix -α£α³ is added to the end of the noun. For example, the word for "beautiful" is α£αα£α (aray). To make it an adjective, the suffix -α£α³ is added, making it α£αα£αα£α³ (arayat).
Masculine Plural
For masculine plural nouns, the suffix -α£αΆα is added to the end of the noun. For example, the word for "strong" is α£α₯α (abli). To make it an adjective, the suffix -α£αΆα is added, making it α£α₯αα£αΆα (ablotom).
Feminine Plural
For feminine plural nouns, the suffix -α£αΆαα³ is added to the end of the noun. For example, the word for "wise" is α£α₯αα (ablinna). To make it an adjective, the suffix -α£αΆαα³ is added, making it α£α₯ααα£αΆαα³ (ablinnatomta).
Examples
Here are some examples of adjectives in Tigrinya:

- α£α₯αα£αΆα (ablotom) - strong (masculine plural)
