There are 4 Hindi consonants which sounds very similar and create confusion
- स श ष क्ष
First consonant स can be easily recogined because
of it's sound - Sa
Eg - Sagar, Silai, Saat, Vikas, Vilas.
These other 3 create confusion as these all sounds very similar
with a " sha" sound.
So while speaking there is no problem even if u interchnage the consonants
As all three sound same
But while writing in hindi, श (sha) is mostly used like
Shalgam, Shikar, Shimla etc...
ष is mostly used in very uncommon hindi words ( mostly Sanskrit derived)
Like
- षड्यंत्र Shadyantra - conspiracy ( just memorize this one)
- षड्दुर्ग
- षट्कोण
- षष्ठी
- षट्कर्मा
These are very uncommon words even many native Hindi speakers don't know how to use
as they are mostly used in books of literature.
So a Hindi learner should not worry about these consonants.
The last consonant क्ष also have a similar kind of story....
The only words that one needs to remember are
क्षमा ( Shama) means to forgive
क्षत्रिय ( shatriya) means a warrior ( mainly a member of warrior class)....
That's it...
I hope you enjoyed this lesson...
