Facts about Bislama[edit | edit source]
Bichelamar, also called bichlamar or bislama (autonym: bislama, /bislaˈma/), is an English lexical-based Creole, spoken in Vanuatu (old New Hebrides).
It is the lingua franca of this archipelago which also has around 130 vernacular languages. Since its independence in 1980, it has also been one of the three official languages of the Republic of Vanuatu, on par with French and English.
