Antonyms

An antonym is a word that means the opposite of another word. For instance, the antonym of 'hot' may be "cold".

Here are a few examples:

Ο ελέφαντας είναι μεγάλος./ o eléfantas îne megàlos	The elephant is big.	L’éléphant est grand.
Το ποντίκι είναι μικρό / to pontîki îne mikrô	The mouse is small.	La souris est petite.
Σκοτεινός / skotinôs -  φωτεινός / fotinôs	dark and light	sombre et clair
Η νύχτα είναι σκοτεινή = i nîchta îne skotinî	The night is dark.	La nuit est sombre.
Η μέρα είναι φωτεινή = i mèra îne fotinî	The day is clear.	Le jour est clair.

όμορφος και άσχημος =ômorfos ke àschimos	beautiful and ugly	beau et laid
Η πεταλούδα είναι όμορφη =i êtalomda îne ômorfi	The butterfly is beautiful.	Le papillon est beau.
Η αράχνη είναι άσχημη =i aràchni îne àschimi	The spider is ugly.	L’araignée est laide.
χοντρός και αδύνατος =chontrôs ke adînatos	fat and skinny	gros et maigre
ακριβό και φτηνό = akrivô ke ftinô	expensive and cheap	cher et bon marché
Το αυτοκίνητο είναι ακριβό =to aftokînito îne akrivô	The car is expensive.	La voiture est chère.
Η εφημερίδα είναι φτηνή = i efimerîda îne ftinî	The newspaper is inexpensive.	Le journal est bon marché.
