In this lesson, we will look at how to ask questions in Kashmiri. Asking questions is an essential part of any language, and Kashmiri is no exception. Whether you're asking for directions, ordering food at a restaurant, or just trying to make conversation with a native speaker, you'll need to know how to ask questions in Kashmiri.

चेकि? | cheki? | What? |
चुयॊच्याव aav-she-sa-neh? | chuyochyav? | How much? |
कृजर्याव? | kuj-yar-yav? | What to do? |
कृज नेह? | kuj- neh? | What happened? |
Example:
- Person 1: क्याह॒? (What is this?)
- Person 2: यलि ब्येन् (This is a pen)

Yes/No Questions[edit | edit source]
Yes/No questions in Kashmiri can often be formed simply by raising the intonation at the end of a statement. Here are some examples:

Kashmiri, like many other languages, has specific question words that are used when asking various types of questions. Let's take a look at some of the most common ones:

Indirect questions in Kashmiri are formed by using the word question first and then the actual question in the sentence. Here are some examples:

क्याह॒ उनुखॊउस शॊलॊह ? | kya-ha unukhus sholoha? | Can you tell me what this is? |
रॊयॊमन नॊकर चॊचि संभवॊरै? | royuman nokar choci sambhavorai? | Do you know where the employee is? |
कृज करुनयेह सॊरह खुश्यॊमडॊइंडॊ? | kuj karunyeh sorah khushyomdoinde? | Could you ask them when they will arrive? |
Example:
- Person 1: क्याह॒ उनुखॊउस शॊलॊह ? (Can you tell me what this is?)
- Person 2: यह।, वोह एक पें है (Yes, that's a pen.)
