Abkhazian Vocabulary - Colors

Hi Abkhazian learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn the colors in Abkhazian language. Colors are very important to describe the world around us. You can also use the names of different colors to describe your emotions, feelings, and preferences.

Finish this lesson and explore these related pages:Numbers and Counting in Abkhazian, Abkhazian Vocabulary → Weather and Climate in Abkhazia ..., Means of Transportation & Financial Expressions in Abkhazian.

Basic colors[edit | edit source]

Abkhazian has basic words for colors. Here are some of the most common ones:

Abkhazian Pronunciation English
аҧшьа aṗš̍°a black
гәбицәа ġəbic̣ʷa white
яӡыгәа jaz̍əgʷa red
сапәа s̍apʷa blue
аҳәӡәа āhaz̍ʷa green
рыцәа rəc̣ʷa yellow

Let's learn how to use these colors in sentences:

- Мышьа аҧшьа ап. (Myš̍a aṗš̍°a ap.) - The mouse is black.

- Жәбра гәбицәа ап. (ƶəbra ġəbic̣ʷa ap.) - The zebra is white and black.

- Апле масквае яӡыгәа ап. (Aplẹ maskʷae jaz̍əgʷa ap.) - The apple in Moscow is red.

- Куат сапәа ап. (Kuat s̍apʷa ap.) - The sky is blue.
