How to say "hello" in Bengali[edit | edit source]
You can basically see two variations: one in West Bengal, and the other in Bangladesh.
- When you greet a Bangalee in West Bengal, which is a part of India, always say Nomoshkar (নমস্কার৷):
See the video below.
- When you greet a person in Bangladesh, always start with Salam. It is Assalamu Alaikum (অস্সলামু অলযকুম৷).
Everyone in Bangladesh, no matter Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist or Christians are used to it.
