Urdu Grammar - Conditional Mood

Hi Urdu learners! 😊
In today's lesson, we will be discussing the conditional mood in Urdu grammar. The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that may or may not happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and desires.

Formation of the Conditional Mood

The conditional mood is formed by adding the suffixes -e and -eN to the verb stem. The suffix -e is added to the first person singular (I) and the suffix -eN is added to the second and third person singular (you, he/she/it).

For example:

  • To eat (verb stem): khana
  • I would eat: khaane
  • You would eat: khaaneN

Usage

The conditional mood is used to express a hypothetical situation or an event that may or may not happen in the future. It is also used to express wishes and desires.

For example:

  • If I had the money, I would buy a car.
  • I wish I could go to the beach.

Examples

Here are some examples of the conditional mood in action:

  • If I had the time, I would visit my grandparents.
  • If I had the money, I would buy a new phone.
  • If I had the energy, I would go for a run.
  • If I had the courage, I would ask her out.
  • If I had the opportunity, I would travel the world.
