Hi Sudanese Arabic learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Sudanese Arabic. We will look at how to form sentences in the future tense, as well as some common phrases and expressions.
The future tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future. In Sudanese Arabic, the future tense is formed by adding a suffix to the verb. The suffix depends on the person and number of the subject.
For example, the verb "to write" (كتب) in the future tense for the first person singular (I) would be كتبت (katabt). For the third person plural (they), it would be كتبوا (katabu).
Here are some examples of sentences in the future tense:
Sudanese Arabic | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
سأذهب | sa-dhahab | I will go |
سنذهب | san-dhahab | We will go |
هيذهب | hi-dhahab | She will go |
همذهبوا | hum-dhahabu | They will go |
In addition to forming sentences in the future tense, there are also some common phrases and expressions that are used to talk about the future. Here are some examples:
Sudanese Arabic | Pronunciation | English Translation |
---|---|---|
سأفعل | sa-f'al | I will do it |
سنحضر | san-hudur | We will be there |
هيجيب | hi-jiib | She will come |
همخرجوا | hum-kharijuu | They will leave |
It is important to note that the future tense can also be used to express probability or likelihood. For example, if you want to say "I think I will go", you can say أعتقد أنني سأذهب (a'taqid anni sa-dhahab).
Now that you know how to form sentences in the future tense and some common phrases and expressions, you can start using them in your conversations. Practice makes perfect, so don't forget to practice with native speakers on Polyglot Club!
