Personal pronouns

Personal pronoun consists of 7 types of pronouns.

Subject Pronoun

• First Person – I ( நான் ) and We ( நாம் / நாங்கள் ) Example : நான் ஒரு மனிதன் . Iam a human being .
• Second Person – You ( நீ / நீங்கள் ) Example : நீ நாளை பள்ளிக்கு வர வேண்டும் . You should come to school tomorrow .
• Third Peron – He , She , It , They ( அவன் , அவள் , இது , அது , அவர் , அவர்கள் , அவை )

Example

அவள் நன்றாகப் பாடுவாள்

She will sing well .

Object Pronoun

• First Person – Me ( என்னை ) , Us ( நம்மை / எங்களை ) Example : என்னை மறந்து விடு . Forget me .
• Second Person – You ( உன்னை / உங்களை ) Example : உன்னை நம்புகிறேன் . I trust you .
• Third Person – Him , Her , It , Them , That ( அவனை , அவளை , இதை/அதை , அவர்களை , அவற்றை )

Example

அவளைக் கூப்பிடு

Call her .

Indirect Object Pronoun

• First Person – To me , To us ( எனக்கு , நமக்கு/எங்களுக்கு ) Example : எனக்கு பயணம் பிடிக்காது . I don’t like travel .
• Second Person – To you ( உங்களுக்கு ) Example : நான் உங்களுக்கு நன்றி உள்ளவனாக இருப்பேன் . I will be thankful to you .
• Third Person – To him , To her , To it , To them ( அவனுக்கு/அவருக்கு , அவளுக்கு , அதற்க்கு , அவர்களுக்கு/அவற்றிற்கு )

Example

இந்த வீட்டை அவர்களுக்கு பரிசளித்தார்கள்

They gifted the house to them

Possesive Pronoun

• First Person – Mine , Ours ( என்னுடையது , நம்முடையது ) Example : இந்த பேனா எனுடையது . This pen is mine.
• Second Person – Yours ( உங்களுடையது ) Example : இந்த வீடு உங்களுடையது . This  house is yours .
• Third Person – His , Her , Its , Their , That ( அவனுடையது / அவருடையது , அவளுடையது , அதனுடையது , அவர்களுடையது , அவற்றின் )

Example

இந்த கார் அவனுடையது

This car is his .

Pronoun with Ablative Cases

• First Person – From me , From us ( என்னிடமிருந்து , நம்மிடமிருந்து / எங்களிடமிருந்து ) Example : அவன் என்னிடமிருந்து புத்தகம் வாங்கினான் . He got a book from me .
• Second Person – From you ( உங்களிடமிருந்து ) Example : நான் உங்களிடமிருந்து எதையும் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை . I don’t expect anything from you .
• Third Person – From him , From her , From it , From them ( அவனிடமிருந்து / அவரிடமிருந்து , அவளிடமிருந்து , அதனிடமிருந்து , அவர்களிடமிருந்து )

Example

அவனிடமிருந்து கடனை எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை

Pronouns with Associative cases

• First Person – With me , With us ( என்னுடன் , நம்முடன் /எங்களுடன் ) Example : என்னுடன் சண்டை போட வேண்டாம் . Don’t fight with me .
• Second Person – With you ( உங்களுடன் ) Example : நான் உங்களுடன் வர மாட்டேன் . I will not come with you .
• Third Person – With him , With her , With them , With that ( அவனுடன் , அவளுடன் , அதனுடன் , அவருடன் , அவர்களுடன் , அவற்றுடன் )

Example

• அவளுடன் விளையாடுங்கள்

Play with her .

Pronouns with Locative cases

• First Person – in / on me , in /on us ( என்னிட்த்தில் , நம்மிட்த்தில் , எங்களிடம் ) Example : என்னிடத்தில் நம்பிக்கை வை . Have faith in me .
• Second Person – in / on you ( உங்களிடம் ) Example :உங்களிடம் நல்ல பண்புகளைப் பார்கிறேன் . I see good habits in you .
• Third Person – in / on him , in / on her , in / on it , in / on them , in / on that ( அவனிடம் , அவளிடம் , அதனிடம் , அவரிடம் , அவர்களிடம் , அவற்றிடம்)

Example

• அவர்கள் அவன் மீது வழக்கு போட்டு இருக்கிறார்கள்

They filed a case on him .
