Younger children often get a weekly allowance, while older children and youth are more likely to get a monthly allowance. The amount of the allowance also often increases by age, and children between the ages of six and eight years received twenty-six crowns a week, while youth between the ages of fifteen and seventeen got 713 crowns per month on average. The great majority of children who receive weekly or monthly allowance are expected to do something in return.
