Hungarian Grammar - Future Tense

Hi Hungarian learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Hungarian. We will look at how to form the future tense, and how to use it in sentences.

The future tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future. In Hungarian, the future tense is formed using the verb "lesz" (to be) and the infinitive form of the verb.

For example:

  • I will go - Elmegyek
  • You will eat - Eszel
  • He will speak - Beszél

The verb "lesz" is conjugated according to the subject of the sentence. For example:

The future tense can also be used to express probability or possibility. For example:

  • It will rain tomorrow - Holnap esni fog
  • He might come - Eljöhet

The future tense can also be used to express intention. For example:

  • I will call you later - Később hívlak
  • We will go to the beach - Elmegyünk a strandra

The future tense can also be used to express a command or request. For example:

  • You will do it now - Most megcsinálod
  • They will help us - Segítenek nekünk

The future tense can also be used to express a wish or hope. For example:

  • I hope it will be sunny tomorrow - Remélem holnap napos lesz
  • I wish you will be happy - Remélem boldog leszel
