  • ... or Life in the Woods

    • Have you ever choose a book just by its name?
    • Usually I haven’t do that.
    • But recently I’ve wrote a postcard about that I would like to live somewhere far from people, in forests or in mountains.
    • Almost afterwards I stumbled to a book ”Walden, or Life in the Woods” by H.D.Thoreau.
  • I liked its name, but didn’t find it in a local library, so I bought it.
    • It’s about that the person tired of super civilization and consumer society and decided to live simple life in natural environment.
    • Thoreau lived for two years in a shore of Walden pond in a hut which he built by himself.
    • The idea is very close to me and the way how he lived actually too.
    • I also start my day from swimming, I grow vegetables and the most enjoyable things for me is behold, meditate and reading, even a railway also lies not far from my place as it was in Walden.
  • But it doesn’t matter actually, the main is significance of ideas, the simple life, life which is free from material worries, contemplative and self-sufficient life.
    • When do you think a person so tired of civilization to left it for a wood?
  • The book was published in 1854, almost ten years after author’s experiment.
    • How far the civilization stepped and how society has gone too far in its overconsumption since then?
    • I afraid to imagine...
    • The other book chosen by its name become ”Far from the Madding Crowd” by T.Hardy.
    • It sems that the idea catch me tightly. Well then.
    • I haven’t read this book yet, it’s next in the line.
    • Just by chance, this book is also not in our library, so I bought it, in addition at the same series of books as Thoreau.
