Text from Gavriella - English

  • Exhibition on narratives

    • These notes are an ongoing work, wrote and published by (name of the artist) as soon as a new poetic thought comes to his mind.
    • Some of the notes do not become poetic immediately after being written by the artist, but take some nostalgic weight and good taste with time, and age well, like wine.
  • For example, some of the notes are grocery lists, and make us remember grocery lists of painters like Jacques-Louis David, which we would study during art history classes, in order to deconstruct the poetic myths surrounding artists.
    • With this work, (name of the artist) shows us how wrong we were, and demonstrates how grocery lists can be as poetic as the deepest of his poems.
  • This work is based on the will of the artist to combine language and art.
  • He researched how to be original as an artist who is interested in this combination, whilst a huge part of 20th century’s art history included this subject.
  • His research led him to create a work which would be the next step of the relationship between art and language, without hoping to be the next Yoko Ono.
  • Admiring this artist for her use of language as language in its pure from within her installation Yes, (name of the artist) tries to sharp the purity of language, by reducing the difficulty of the access to this language.
  • Indeed, in the work of Ono, you would need to climb a scale and only then you could have access to the language part of the work, thanks to a magnifying glass.
  • (name of the artist) gives an easy access to the medium of language, placing it at your fingertips.
