Introduction[edit | edit source]

Welcome to the lesson on Ukrainian vocabulary for modes of transportation! 1. Я їду на автомобілі до міста. (Ya yidu na avtomobili do mista.) - I am going to the city by car. 2. Чи знаєш ти, як дістатися до центру міста на автобусі? (Chy znayesh ty, yak distatysya do tsentru mista na avtobusi?) - Do you know how to get to the city center by bus? 3. Я люблю їздити на поїзді, це дуже зручно. (Ya lyublyu yizdyty na poizdi, tse duzhe zruchno.) - I enjoy traveling by train, it's very convenient. 4. Літак затримується через погодні умови. (Litak zatrymuyetsya cherez pogodni umovy.) - The plane is delayed due to weather conditions.

Conversation 1: Person A: Як ти зазвичай дістаєшся до роботи? (Yak ty zavychay distayeshsya do roboty?) - How do you usually get to work? Person B: Я їду на автобусі, це найзручніше для мене. (Ya yidu na avtobusi, tse nayzruchnishe dlya mene.) - I take the bus, it's the most convenient for me.

Conversation 2: Person A: Чи є в Україні швидкісний поїзд? (Chy ye v Ukrayini shvydkisnyy poizd?) - Is there a high-speed train in Ukraine? Person B: Так, є. Найшвидший поїзд в Україні називається "Інтерсіті+". (Tak, ye. Nayshvydshyy poizd v Ukrayini nazivayetsya "Intersiti+.") - Yes, there is. The fastest train in Ukraine is called "Intercity+".

Exercise 1: Fill in the blanks with the correct mode of transportation in Ukrainian.

1. Я полетів до Києва на ______. (Ya poletiv do Kyieva na ______.) 2. Ми подорожували до Львова на ______. (My podorozhuvaly do Lvova na ______.) 3. Exercise 2: Translate the following sentences from English to Ukrainian.

1. I am taking the train to Lviv. 2. Can I get a ticket for the bus to Kyiv? 3. The flight was canceled due to bad weather.
