Turkish breakfast plays an important role in Turkish culture.

In Turkey, the breakfast is very rich and generally contains the following ingredients:

  • bread
  • different kinds of cheese
  • tea
  • all kinds of olives
  • thick syrup of grape juice
  • all kinds of jam
  • meat
  • soup
  • butter
  • vegetables and fruits
  • omelet
  • french fries
  • yogurt (a cultural Turkish food whic made is from milk)
  • eggs scrambled with tomatoes and green pepper
  • egg and a lot of special Turkish meals made of eggs
  • vegetables and dough


In each region, breakfast contains specific foods related to the culture.

For example in the west part of Turkey (near the Marmara sea and the Mediteranean), people use olive oil, vegetables, all kinds of cheese and olives.

However, in the east of the country, people eat all kinds of meats and soups along with the basic breakfast foods.
