Slovakia is also famous for its natural mineral water from various springs with added carbon dioxide. This water is known as 'perlivá voda' (sparkling water) and is a popular drink among Slovaks.

Alcoholic Drinks[edit | edit source]

Slovaks love their alcohol, and there are several traditional alcoholic drinks that are unique to Slovakia:

Slovak Pronunciation English

It is important to note that the legal drinking age in Slovakia is 18 years old. Please drink responsibly.

Slovak Drinking Culture[edit | edit source]

Drinking is a big part of Slovak culture, and many social gatherings involve drinking. One of the most popular Slovak sayings is "bez trestu sa neodnesieš" which translates to "you can't leave without a punishment." This means that you can't refuse a drink that is offered to you without some sort of playful punishment or ribbing from your friends.
