Tabletop games are games that are normally played on a table, such as board games, card games, dice games, miniature wargames, or tile-based games.
Here is a list of the main tabletop games in the world.
Note: For proprietary games, only the most famous ones are listed.
If you want to play most of these games in one program, you can install Minetest, download the mod https://codeberg.org/GrimPixel/Tabletop and place it in its mod directory. Next steps are at below.

How to play tabletop games on Minetest
Open Minetest, click on “New”, select “flat” in “Mapgen”, disable all Mapgen flags, click on “Create”, turn on ”Creative Mode”, click on “Play Game”, press “i” to open inventory, get the materials and place your board and pieces, and even create a dealing machine, then turn off “Creative Mode”, host your server and play with your friends.
Here are mods you may need to download from the game's “Content” -> “Browse online content”:
mod name | use |
---|---|
Unified Inventory | To browse the list of available items in game easily. |
3D Armor | To move quickly by its “Crystal Boots”, through its 3d_armor_ui, armor_crystal. |
Travelnet | To teleport among places in case you need a lot of space. |
Basic Signs | To set up signs for some tabletop games. |
Headanim | To show people's head direction, so you can see if they are cheating by changing camera view, when playing some games. |
Mesecons | To transmit signals by buttons and wires, through its mesecons_buttons, mesecons_wires. |
Wireless Mesecons | To send signals remotely. |
Pipeworks | To transport cards. |
Anvil | To break some tubes, so items in the tubes can be dropped. |
You can also download them from its official mod website Conten DB.
Why don't I put this mod on its official mod database? Because of some discord between me and an administrator there.

Intermediate: A Capitalist Game
- Those boxes with a question mark are called “Tabletop Stores”. Each one of them can store 220 stacks, which roughly means 220 different cards.
- Under the stores are “Itemwise Filter-Injectors” from the mod Pipeworks. It can extract an item from the store, and can be set to do so randomly. It requires the use of “Screwdriver” to rotate (hold Shift and left-click on the Itemwise Filter-Injector 3 times).
- To make the Itemwise Filter-Injector work, connect it to a button with a ”mesecon” (which works as a wire).
- Press the button to get an item from the store, which is a written book here.
- Place glasses around the Itemwise Filter-Injectors to prevent players from changing its settings.
- Above the stores are “Vacuum Pneumatic Tube Segments”. They can take in any items in a 5*5*5 cube centered by itself. Here it can transfer any book dropped by the player back to the store.
Advanced: Card Machine
- There are 5 “Wireless Mesecon Transmitters”: 1 is at the center, for dealing 2 cards to everyone; 4 at each one's own position, for dealing a card to the specific player.
- There are some floors in a different colour, being are called “Tabletop Stands”, each of which can hold a card standing. Right click on it with a card in hand to do so. Left click on it to put the card down.
- There are some grey floors with crosses on them. They are called “Tabletop Tunnels”. When the signal is send to them, they will remove anything on top of it and create a same thing as a dropped item below it, which imitates the process of transferring item from above it to below it.
- There are a “Teleportation Pneumatic Tube Segment” and a broken “Pneumatic Tube Segment”. The tube can be broken by left-click with an anvil.
- There are 4 “Wireless Mesecon Receivers” connected to 4 Itemwise Filter-Injectors for 4 players, with 4 Teleportation Tube Segments. Their channels are the same as the central Wireless Mesecon Transmitter's. So, when a player presses the button at the center, each Itemwise Filter-Injector is activated by 2 Wireless Mesecon Receivers, dealing 2 cards to a player.
- There are 4 “Wireless Mesecon Receivers”, each connected to 4 groups of Tabletop Tunnels and an Itemwise Filter-Injector.
- There are Vacuum Tube Segments and Pneumatic Tube Segments to collect the items dropped by the tunnel and transfer them to the lower store.
- There is a “Stackwise Filter-Injector”, which is used together with a Pneumatic Tube Segment to transfer cards from the upper store to the lower store. Punch (left-click on) it to make it do so.
Tips
- Press Z to zoom in.
- For Teleportation Pneumatic Segments, if the item inside it is moving towards the same direction, then after the teleportation, it can drop immediately when reaching the broken tube segment; otherwise it will move a distance and then drop.
- Press Shift when right-clicking to place, instead of opening the interface of Teleportation Pneumatic Tube Segment or other stuff.
