In French, the words in -al have their plural in -aux.

But there are some exceptions with a plural in -als.

There are 9 exceptions:

  1. Chacal = Chacals / {Jackal}
  2. Aval = Avals / {Downstream}
  3. Bal = Bals / {Bal}
  4. Carnaval = Carnavals / {Carnival}
  5. Corral = Corrals / {Corral}
  6. Récital = Récitals / {Recital}
  7. Régal = Régals / {Treat, Delight}
  8. Festival = Festivals / {Festival}
  9. Final =Finals / {Final}
