Here are the main colors and examples of use.

Word Meaning Example Meaning
červená red Kluk má červený nos. The boy has a red nose
zelená green Tráva je zelená. Grass is green.
modrá blue Nebe je modré. The sky is blue.
fialová purple Ona nosí fialové oblečení. She wears purple clothes
hnědá brown Pole je hnědé. The field is brown.
barevná, pestrobarevná colorful pesprobarevná louka a colorful meadow
bezbarvá colorless Voda je bezbarvá. Water is colorless.
černá black černý klobouk a black hat
bílá white Vidím bílý plot. I see white fence.
růžová pink Žena má růžové šaty. A womam has a pink dress.
šedá grey Kočka chytila šedou myš The cat caught the gray mouse.
barva color Mám rád barvy. I like colors.

Masculine / Feminine / Neutral / Plural[edit | edit source]

While in English an adjective doesn't change when the noun changes, in Czech an adjective agrees in gender and number with the noun.

Feminine MODRÁ ČERNÁ BÍLÁ ŽLUTÁ ČERVENÁ
Neutral MODRÉ ČERNÉ BÍLÉ ŽLUTÉ ČERVENÉ
Masculine / Plural MODRÝ ČERNÝ BÍLÝ ŽLUTÝ ČERVEVÝ
Feminine / Plural MODRÉ ČERNÉ BÍLÉ ŽLUTÉ ČERVENÉ
Neutral / Plural MODRÁ ČERNÁ BÍLÁ ŽLUTÁ ČERVENÁ
