The Nominative Case in Armenian
The nominative case is the "default" case in Armenian. Subjects of sentences are placed in normative case. Any subject of a sentence, whether definite or indefinite, singular or plural is in the nominative case. Examples:
- Մարդը քայլում է։ The man is walking.
- Դու աղջիկ ունես։ You have a daughter.
- Մեծ շներն ուտում են միս։ Big dogs are eating meat.
In these sentences Մարդը, Դու, and շներն are in normative case
