In this lesson, we will focus on Yoruba vocabulary related to education. Learning Yoruba vocabulary is essential if you want to understand the language better. With this lesson, you will be able to talk about the education system in Yoruba and your own education background.

Yoruba Vocabulary for Education

In Yoruba, the word for education is "ilimi". Below are some common Yoruba words related to education:

Interesting Facts

In Yoruba culture, education has always been highly valued. In the past, families saw education as critical for social status and their children's future. Education was also a way of preserving Yoruba culture and values.

Today, the Nigerian government requires all children to attend primary school, but many families have difficulty affording it. Private schools are also widespread in Nigeria but can be prohibitively expensive for many.
