In this lesson, we will learn how to use the verb "be" in Dutch. We will look at the conjugation of the verb, as well as some examples of how it is used in sentences.

The verb "be" is an irregular verb in Dutch, and it is used to express existence or a state of being. The conjugation of the verb "be" is as follows:

Person Singular Plural
I ben zijn
You bent zijn
He/She/It is zijn
We zijn zijn
You (plural) zijn zijn
They zijn zijn

Let's look at some examples of how the verb "be" is used in sentences.

  • Ik ben een student. (I am a student.)
  • Jij bent mijn vriend. (You are my friend.)
