Hi Southern Uzbek learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about the future tense in Southern Uzbek. We will look at the rules for forming the future tense, some examples, and practice exercises. Let's get started!
Rules
The future tense in Southern Uzbek is formed by adding the suffix -yap to the verb stem. The verb stem is the part of the verb that remains after removing the infinitive ending -mak. For example, the verb stem of the verb yashirmak (to cry) is yashi-. To form the future tense, we add the suffix -yap to the verb stem, giving us yashiyap (will cry).
The future tense can also be formed with the auxiliary verb bo'ladi. This is done by conjugating the verb bo'ladi in the present tense and adding the infinitive of the main verb. For example, the sentence "I will go" can be expressed as Men bo'layap (I will be + go).
Examples
